RDC EuroNight successfully launched
Night train between Stockholm and Berlin now also part of the Interrail network
On Tuesday evening, 1 September, a familiar sight could initially be seen at Stockholm Central Station. The RDC EuroNight was ready to depart, taking its passengers via Hamburg to Berlin. However, the fact that this night train service remains on the rails is by no means a given. With RDC Deutschland taking over operations, the continuation of the service was secured. On Tuesday evening, the first RDC EuroNight successfully set off from Stockholm towards Germany.
This means the takeover of the night train connection between Sweden and Germany has now also been completed in ongoing operations. On the inaugural journey, two sleeper coaches, three couchette coaches and one seated coach were used. The available capacities will be increased gradually over the coming weeks. “For our passengers, what matters most is that they can continue to travel comfortably overnight between Sweden and Germany. For us, the successful transition from the SJ EuroNight to the RDC EuroNight on 1 September was therefore a very special moment. We have created the conditions to continue this important international night train connection. Now it is about developing the RDC EuroNight step by step and offering an even more attractive rail service to more travellers. Now also part of the Interrail network
At the start of operations, there is also further positive news for international rail travellers. Since 1 September 2026, the RDC EuroNight has officially been part of the Interrail network. As was already the case on the SJ EuroNight, Interrail passes are now also accepted as tickets on the RDC EuroNight. Holders of an Interrail Pass can therefore use the RDC EuroNight as part of their rail journey through Europe. In addition, a seat reservation is required for the RDC EuroNight, which can be booked via www.nachtexpress.de. Interrail reservations can be booked in the seated coach, couchette coach and sleeper coach.
Bookings for the turn of the year
Tickets for the RDC EuroNight can be booked at www.nachtexpress.de and www.nattexpressen.se. Ticket sales for the 2026/2027 festive period will open on 9 September 2026. Travellers can therefore already plan their night train journeys between Sweden and Germany for the Christmas period and the turn of the year.
With the successful launch of the RDC EuroNight, RDC Deutschland continues the international night train connection between Stockholm, Hamburg and Berlin and is developing the service step by step. Joining the Interrail network and the gradual expansion of capacity are further building blocks in making the service even more attractive for international rail travellers.
