Germany takes over the EuroNight Berlin-Hamburg-Stockholm from 1 September 2026

Night train connection remains on track – ticket sales start on 1 June

From 1 September, RDC Deutschland will take over the operation of the RDC EuroNight Berlin-Hamburg-Stockholm as the responsible railway undertaking and will continue the established night train service commercially. Following the announcement by the Swedish state railway SJ to discontinue the SJ EuroNight from Berlin to Stockholm in summer 2026 due to the expiry of funding by the Swedish Transport Administration Trafikverket, RDC Deutschland has decided to continue the route commercially. RDC Deutschland has been a partner railway undertaking of SJ since 2022 and has been responsible for operating the SJ EuroNight on the German section. This private railway company is among the few specialising in night train services. "We are very pleased to be able to maintain this popular night train connection for our passengers. We also thank our long-standing partner SJ for their ongoing operational support on the Scandinavian section, which enables us to ensure as smooth a start as possible as the new operator," says Kathleen Stöckel, Chief Operating Officer Night Trains and Fleet at RDC Deutschland.

Ticket sales start on 1 June

From Monday, 1 June, the booking portals on the RDC Deutschland website will open. All passengers can conveniently purchase their tickets online at www.nachtexpress.de and www.nattexpressen.se. The RDC EuroNight will connect Berlin and Hamburg with Stockholm three times a week.

With own staff and fleet across Europe

The RDC team, especially drivers, conductors and onboard staff, look forward to continuing operations and serving passengers with this route. The rolling stock also belongs to RDC Deutschland and is maintained in their own workshops in Lengerich and Niebüll as well as partner workshops. "Our expertise spans the entire value chain in the railway sector. This enables us to offer services in the best possible way," adds Wolfgang Seyb, Head of Operations and Managing Director, RDC Deutschland.

Year-round three times weekly: The RDC EuroNight continues to connect Berlin, Hamburg and Stockholm with sleeper, couchette and seated cars.

The RDC EuroNight 344/345 will continue to run year-round on the usual 1,500 km route between Berlin and Stockholm – three times a week in both directions. The departure from Berlin is on Mondays and Fridays at 18:39, and on Wednesdays the EuroNight 344 departs Hamburg at 21:53, arriving in Stockholm the following day at 9:45. Southbound, RDC EuroNight 345 departs Stockholm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 17:29 – arriving in Hamburg on Wednesdays at 5:53, and in Berlin on Fridays and Sundays shortly before 9:00.

The RDC EuroNight will operate with up to five sleeper cars as well as couchette and seated cars. RDC is very pleased to be able to maintain the established service on the Berlin-Hamburg-Stockholm route for our passengers.
